Be Part of Civil War Park Day!

Join us at Delaware's only major Civil War historic site to help us clean and set up for our 2024 season!
As part of the American Battlefield Trust's national initiative, Fort Delaware State Park was scheduled to participate in Park Day 2024. Uncooperative weather on Sat., April 6, forced postponement at our site, unfortunately.
But staff and volunteers are raring to go! Volunteers will have TWO opportunities (this one and Tues. April 23) to help the Fort be ready for the first public day—Sat., April 27. Volunteers are welcome to attend one, the other, or both opportunities if they are available.
Tasks will include:
- Sweeping
- Dusting
- Weeding
- Moving objects and furniture
This is a great chance to help out your local history site, get a behind-the-scenes look at Fort Delaware, and get a free American Battlefield Trust water bottle!
Don’t miss the boat!
The workboat to transport volunteers to Pea Patch Island departs promptly at 10 a.m. Volunteers should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to walk to the boat ramp, put on a life preserver, and prepare to be ferried to the island.
