Are you an avid kayaker? Do you want to get out on the water while helping clean up Lums Pond to kick off summer?
Come out on Saturday, June 10th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and help the Friends of Lums Pond Kayaking Committee! With the warmer weather setting in and the water heating up, it is prime time for kayakers to get out on the water and help clean up Lums Pond for the summer months. Tasks for the event include:
- Cutting fishing line from trees
- Picking up trash along the shore
- Getting out on the water and enjoying the day!
Participants will meet at Area 1, where those in attendance will be in grouped into teams to spread out across the pond, focusing on areas of high need where trash, debris, and fishing line are abundant.
Please ensure you have proper kayaking equipment prior to the event, including a whistle and paddle – paddles will not be available for loan. It is also highly encouraged that you bring a pair of scissors.
Please note: It is suggested that you be comfortable kayaking to attend the event. For those in need of a kayak, there will be limited numbers available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please email Taylor.Reynolds@Delaware.gov to reserve a kayak for the event.
