Position Overview

Located where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Henlopen State Park boasts over six miles of coastline and a unique blend of coastal habitats. This park's landscape, shaped by its “Point” and varied ecosystems, includes barrier dunes, coastal beaches, and maritime forests that shelter a rich diversity of plants and animals. Visitors can explore these habitats and discover native species at the Seaside Nature Center, which offers interpretive programs and educational displays.

Campground Hosts at Cape Henlopen play a vital role in enhancing visitor experiences, assisting campers and park staff within the campground. Responsibilities include greeting campers, facilitating check-in/check-out, sharing park information, and helping with general maintenance and campground services.

Term of Service Requirements

  • First-time Hosts: Minimum 3-month commitment
  • Seasonal and year-round positions available
  • Couples: 24 hours per week per person | Individuals: 30 hours per week

Host Responsibilities

  • Act as Campground Ambassadors by greeting and assisting campers with check-ins as needed
  • Share information about the park, its rules, and the surrounding area in a friendly, informative manner
  • Conduct routine checks of bathroom facilities
  • Monitor for and report any rule infractions
  • Perform additional tasks as agreed upon

Host Site Amenities

  • Full Hook-Up Sites: 30-50 amp service, water, and sewer access
  • Picnic Table and Fire Ring
  • Accommodates rigs up to 45 feet

  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk 2 miles, and engage with school-age children
  • Ability to adhere to Division and Park Customer Service and Safety Guidelines
  • Note: Campground Hosts will have two consecutive days off during the week, with no regular weekend (Saturday/Sunday) availability.

Direct Supervisor

  • Hosts report directly to the Campground Manager.

Additional Requirements

  • All Delaware State Parks Hosts must complete a background check conducted by the Division. Background check opportunity will be provided at no cost. 
  • Basic computer proficiency and access to a personal computer are required to complete the application and onboarding process.
  • Hosts will need to be able to navigate online forms, send and receive email, and access training materials electronically.
