Bellevue State Park is looking for volunteers to help establish our pollinator garden!
Volunteers will assist in the removal of invasive plants along with other general gardening tasks in preparation for the installation of new native plants. Check out our opportunities page if you wish to join us for the planting of the garden on April 26th!
Gardening supplies will be provided in short supply, so volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gardening gloves, knee pads, etc. as those will be limited.
Volunteers will:
- Learn how to identify plants in a garden and determine if they are native or non-native plants.
- Remove invasive weeds by hand pulling and using basic gardening tools like trowels.
- Complete any other gardening and organizing tasks to prepare for a future planting date.
Following this event, we are also looking for volunteers who are interested in recurring volunteer opportunities maintaining the pollinator garden space. Please speak with our Volunteer Manager at the event to learn more, or reach out at el.jones1@delaware.gov.
Meeting: Bellevue Arts Center (2671 Arts Center Rd)
Parking: Main parking lot. Temporary parking passes for the event will be provided should you not have one.
