In 2026, Delaware marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This milestone invites reflection not only on our history, but on the people and actions that have sustained Delaware over time.
Delaware 250: Commemorating 250 Years Through Action brings together volunteer projects that connect Delaware’s past, present, and future through meaningful action. These opportunities reflect long-standing values that have shaped the state for generations—care for land and water, preservation of historic places, civic responsibility, and community connection.
Through hands-on service across Delaware State Parks and surrounding communities, volunteers help tell a living story: that service is not just something we commemorate, but something we continue.
Projects aligned with this initiative may include environmental stewardship, water and shoreline restoration, historic preservation, intergenerational and youth engagement, and forward-looking efforts that invest in Delaware’s next 250 years.
