Description

February 23rd-February 27th is National Invasive Species Awareness Week, and the Brandywine Zoo is recognizing it in the best way possible - removing invasive ivy! Trees throughout Brandywine Zoo and Brandywine Park are being overtaken by English Ivy, which weighs down our trees, cause damage, and can even cut off their flow of nutrients. You can join us to save these trees and prevent the spread of English Ivy on Sunday, February 22nd.

During this project, volunteers can expect to:

  • Identify woody invasives, including how to identify them during winter
  • Learn proper invasive management techniques, such as window cutting
  • Discover the animals under our care
  • Have fun will giving back

Project Date: Sunday, February 222nd

Project Time: 1:00-3:00pm

All supplies will be provided, including loppers, pruners and gloves. Volunteers can bring their own if they'd like. Experience welcome, but not required.

Volunteers can register for the opportunity via the post here, or reach out to the Manager of Volunteers at Luvina.cooley@delaware.gov.
