Description

Bluebird Nestbox Monitors keep an eagle eye on their assigned bluebird boxes, reporting on nesting activity details. On a weekly basis, bluebird nestbox monitors check assigned boxes. Cornell University's NestWatch program is used by all volunteers to enter observation information.

When: during the nesting season from March through October

Who: suitable for individuals or small teams (2 people) who have regular availability. You can be the sole monitor of your assigned boxes, or be assigned a partner and alternate visits.  Substitutes are available when you give notice that you will be away.

Wear: long pants, closed toed shoes and layered clothing that can get dirty and is suitable for the weather.

Bring: a personal water bottle. Observation mirror will be provided.

Parking: Parking: Assigned volunteers park in a lot near their nest box location. If you do not have a state park parking pass, you can receive a temporary parking pass for use during your volunteer visits only.

NOTE: Ticks are active in the park and poison ivy may be present. Please us caution and do a tick check on returning home.

**Trained and active Bluebird Monitors** Please remember to use Add Hours to enter your volunteer hours. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated, allowing birds to thrive at our park.
