Saturday April 22nd *Earth Day* from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
The Brandywine River, White Clay Creek, Red Clay Creek, and Christina River constitute the watershed of the Christina River Basin before continuing into the Delaware River. This watershed provides more than 75% of the water supply for residents and businesses in New Castle County, Delaware.
Since the Christina River Watershed Cleanup began in 1992, more than 360 tons of tires, appliances, household items, and other trash have been cleared from within the watershed. Help keep each of these waterways as free from debris as possible while also improving wildlife habitat.
Please sign up with family, friends, co-workers, and classmates, to volunteer to cleanup White Clay Creek in our beautiful state park! Collectively hundreds of volunteers will help clean the single most important natural resource in our region!

The Cleanup will be held rain or shine on Saturday, April 22nd from 8:00am until 11:00am. Volunteers will meet at the Chambers House Nature Center (1475 Creek Road, Newark, DE 19711). From Route 896 North / New London Road turn onto Hopkins Road and follow the signs to the Nature Center. Please car pool if possible. Groups will be assigned a specific site and given further instructions.
All volunteers should dress in older clothing that can get wet & dirty, including long pants and boots or water-resistant shoes. We also suggest wearing bright colors, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Please bring along gardening/heavy-duty gloves and a personal water bottle if you have these items.
Garbage bags, gloves, water, and limited refreshments will be provided. Safety vests will also be available for volunteers working near roadways. When you arrive at the Cleanup site please sign in with the Site Captain to learn about safety guidelines while collecting debris.
We hope to see you on Earth Day 2023!
