Description

February 23rd-27 is National Invasive Species Awareness Week, and Brandywine Creek State Park is celebrating in the best way possible - by removing invasives from our park! Trees along Tulip Tree Preserve are being overtaken by invasive vines such as Oriental Bittersweet and Porcelain Berry. You can help us save the trees by cutting these vines and preventing their spread on Saturday, February 28th.

During this project, volunteers can expect to:

  • Identify woody invasives, including how to identify them during winter
  • Learn proper invasive management techniques, such as window cutting and stump treating
  • Discover Brandywine Creek State Park's history, while we work alongside historic 19th century walls
  • Have fun will giving back.

Project Date: Saturday, February 28th

Project Time: 1:00-3:00pm

All supplies will be provided, including loppers, pruners and gloves. Volunteers can bring their own if they'd like. Experience welcome, but not required.

Volunteers can register for the opportunity via the post here, or reach out to the Manager of Volunteers at Luvina.cooley@delaware.gov.
