Volunteer Service Activities for Delaware State Parks for your Master Naturalist Service: Available for year one candidates or continuing service. Activities are as varied as your interests that mesh with the park’s needs and may include: Install or maintain pollinator or rain gardens Engage in invasive plant removal, native plant installation or tree plantings Develop and implement projects to benefit certain plant or animal species such as orchids, birds, reptiles, bats Plan and lead educational or experiential public programming in coordination with Nature Centers and park interpretive programs such as wildflower or bird walks Participate in organizing multi-park projects such as Coastal Cleanup or Creekfest Conduct special projects such as research initiatives, water resource protection, or other projects that fit the park’s needs and your interests.

The TGVC is an invaluable team who aids our maintenance with gate opening, leaf blowing, litter clean up, tree and trail condition reporting and helping visitors with wayfinding. This is a constant need, especially during the growing season. Your efforts will help keep trails open and welcoming for park visitors. When: during the growing season, from March thru November. Hours can be flexible but days with need are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. From 7am to 3pm. Who: Suitable for individuals and for small teams up to 5 people. Perfect opportunity for the retiree looking for more outdoor time, and chances to help represent the state parks through public service. Wear: long pants, closed toed shoes and layered clothing that can get dirty and is suitable for the weather. Parking: Volunteers will park and report at the maintenance shop in the morning and can park there before getting into a kubota to go about park projects on the trails. Questions?
